We are Vertigo Studios, the largest VR developer in the world and part of the Embracer Group, the largest group of developers in the world.

As our Amsterdam studio is developing its most ambitious project to date, a true multi-platform high-end VR action shooter based on a global franchise, Vertigo Studios Amsterdam is looking to strengthen the development team with an experienced audio engineer.

As the senior audio engineer within Vertigo Studios Amsterdam you’re responsible for optimizing the technical implementation and performance of the audio in our games. Working in tandem with audio designers and the tech team you focus on researching and implementing new tools and techniques to drive up the quality of the game and the efficiency of the developing process regarding audio.


  • Integration of the audio assets into the game, using the Unreal Engine
  • Ownership of the audio technology pipeline and custom audio tool set, including required audio features
  • Documentation of the pipeline and features for use by the team
  • Responsibility for the performance aspects of the audio content and implementation
  • Reaching the desired audio quality, together with the audio designers and other disciplines involved


  • 5+ years of industry-related experience
  • Expert knowledge of Unreal Engine
  • Strong knowledge of audio post-process plugins
  • Solid knowledge of studio audio equipment
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills across teams
  • Ability to quickly learn and master new software


  • Experience with the new Unreal Engine 5, specifically MetaSounds
  • Scripting and/or programming experience
  • Implementing audio using proprietary tools or commercial middleware, including middleware solutions such as Wwise and FMOD
  • Experience in music production and integration


  • Self-motivated, proactive & well organized, excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Technical curiosity and creativity
  • Adapts well to change & ability to work on multiple features and tasks
  • Passion for developing high quality audio in video games
  • Ability to adhere to team coding standards and best practices
